SaunaMind is the first app that tracks what actually matters in a sauna: your heat adaptation. Instead of watching the clock, SaunaMind guides optimal heat exposure in real time and maps it to five science-backed benefit zones.
The result: you know exactly when your body enters the zones where cardiovascular benefits, heat shock protein activation, and deep hormesis occur — backed by peer-reviewed research from Laukkanen, Jay & Kenny, and others.
Download SaunaMind from the App Store and create your account with email and password.
Select your primary sauna: Traditional/Finnish, Infrared, or Steam. This calibrates the temperature model — infrared heats tissue differently than convective heat, so the type matters.
Tell us what you're after — cardiovascular health, recovery, longevity, stress relief, or general wellness. This helps the AI coach personalise recommendations.
For the most accurate eCBT readings, pair a Bluetooth heart rate strap (Polar, Wahoo, Garmin, CooSpo, or any standard HR monitor). Without one, SaunaMind uses a time-based estimation model.
Your thermal adaptation response is the key metric. SaunaMind estimates it using a peer-reviewed formula:
eCBT = 37.0 + (HR − restingHR) × 0.0162 Jay & Kenny, 2010 — Eur J Appl Physiol When a heart rate monitor is connected, this formula provides real-time eCBT based on your actual physiological response. Without an HR monitor, a time-based model estimates your temperature using sauna type and room temperature.
Two people in the same sauna for the same duration adapt at completely different rates. Fitness level, hydration, acclimatisation, and body composition all affect your heat response. SaunaMind measures you, not the clock.
Open the Session tab and tap Start. SaunaMind supports three session phases:
You can use any combination of these phases in a single session.
The main screen shows your current eCBT, active zone, heart rate, and elapsed time. The zone bar fills as you progress through each threshold. If you leave the app, your session continues in the background and picks up where you left off.
Every session is saved automatically. The History tab shows all past sessions with filters for sauna, cold plunge, contrast (sauna + cold), and training sessions. Tap any session for a detailed view including your temperature curve and zone transitions.
SaunaMind maps your eCBT to five physiological benefit zones, each backed by published research:
Vasodilation begins. Blood flow increases to the skin and cardiovascular system warms up.
Plasma volume expands. Sweating peaks and your body builds heat tolerance.
Heat shock proteins deploy for cellular repair and protection. This is where measurable benefits begin.

SaunaMind works with any Bluetooth Low Energy heart rate monitor that uses the standard Heart Rate Service. Tested and verified devices include:
Wet the sensor pads, put on your strap, then open SaunaMind. The app scans for nearby HR monitors automatically. Tap your device in the list to connect. Once paired, it reconnects automatically in future sessions.
Connect your Oura Ring via the Profile tab for daily readiness metrics, sleep data, and HRV tracking. Oura session HR data is also used to backfill heart rate for sessions where a BLE strap wasn't available.
